Longview Mayor Jay Dean will take the stage during the Longview Chamber of Commerce's Membership Luncheon on Friday September 19, 2014, for his last State of the City address. Elected officials, business leaders and community leaders will come together to celebrate the accomplishments of the Longview Community. The luncheon will be held at Pint Crest Country Club from 11:30am-1:00 pm.
LONGVIEW, TEXAS-Effective today, the Longview Chamber of Commerce is introducing Save Local Now, its newest "Buy Local" program. Save Local Now (savelocalnow.com) is a website and iPhone and Android app that gives people access to exclusive offers from their favorite businesses. Locals and tourists alike can use Save Local Now to access deals, events and savings where they shop, eat and play from any browser on any device. Saving money and buying local in the Longview area has never been easier.
The Longview Chamber of Commerce recently announced the completion of the second phase of the Way-finding project for Longview. The Chamber, through the Longview Main Street launched its way-finding initiative in the summer of 2008 to provide a clear visual language and graphic standard that can be universally understood. More than just signs, this innovative navigational system provides the critical function of helping people find their way to popular landmarks and service districts in Longview.
Longview will be represented at the Oklahoma Economic Development Institute in Dallas, Texas on May 5-8. Diana Northcutt, Retail Development Coordinator for the Longview Chamber will be attending OU EDI, the only professional level program of its type in the U.S., provides professional economic developers with up-to-date knowledge and tools necessary to succeed in today's constantly changing economic development marketplace.
The Longview Chamber of Commerce will be well represented at the Northeast Texas Roundtable in Paris April 22. Kayla Cantey and Diana Northcutt with the Longview Chamber of Commerce will be among the attendees at this year's event.
The city of Longview was well represented at this year's Texas Travel Counselors Conference held April 13-18 in South Padre Island. Margie Harris, Tourism Services Manager, for the Longview Chamber of Commerce Convention & Tourism Bureau, participated in this annual event.
Longview was well represented at the 2014 Fort Worth Home and Garden Show held at the Fort Worth Convention Center February 21-23.
Kilgore and Longview Chambers of Commerce Team up for Elected Officials' Forum
The Longview Chamber has hosted annual elected officials' forums for a number of years. Due to the successful partnership with Kilgore Chamber on advocacy trips to Austin, it was decided to host joint events when it was in the best interest of the county. This is the FIRST joint elected officials' forum hosted by the chambers.
Top local industry experts highlighted the 2014 Retail Forecast held at the Omni Dallas Hotel January 30. Diana Northcutt, Retail Development Coordinator with the Longview Chamber of Commerce, attended this year's conference and gained insight into the retail forecast for 2014.
Longview Main Street has been commended for successful annual progress as a designated Main Street community. The Texas Historical Commission's (THC) Texas Main Street Program (TMSP) made the announcement at the winter gathering of Texas Main Street managers in Seguin, an original 1981 Texas Main Street city.
Longview Main Street was well represented at the 2014 Main Street Conference in Seguin. Kayla Cantey, Convention Meetings and Main Street Manager, was one of hundreds of Main Street Managers who attended. Session workshops include inclusion in the workplace, how to manage and market downtown property inventory, panel discussions of successful special events and how to promote Main Street programs through social media.
Longview was well represented at the 2014 Katy Home and Garden Show January 26 & 27.
Special guest Gary Hoover will be presented at the Longview Chamber of Commerce as keynote speaker at their annual membership banquet January 14, 2014. In keeping with the theme of this year's event and the 2014 program of work, Gary Hoover will share his successful experiences as an entrepreneur. Hoover began his entrepreneurial journey at an early age. His question about enterprises was, "What separates the losers from the winners?" At age 30, Hoover created pioneering book superstore BOOKSTOP which helped change the nature of book shopping in America. When the company was seven years old it was sold to Barnes & Nobel for $41.5 million cash.
Longview will be well represented at the 2014 Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus’ Mid-Winter Conference January 20-23 2014 in Dallas. Margie Harris, Tourism Services Manager for the Longview Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau, will attend conference sessions presented by professionals in the tourism and convention industry to learn new techniques and best practices of other CVBs and to network with CVB professionals and industry experts.
Local leaders of industry and C-level executives will share their experiences and insights into the business world with the next generation of CEOs in a roundtable discussion January 23 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at LeTourneau University in the Glaske Center for Engineering, Science & Technology.
The Longview Chamber of Commerce will recognize three outstanding emerging leaders at its annual luncheon on December 5, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Country Club.
