Come See the Special Shapes
One of the best things about living in a town that hosts the oldest balloon festival in Texas is seeing the colorful and specially-shaped hot air balloons that the pros call "special shapes".
A butterfly, a clown, and a stagecoach are just a few of the whimsical balloons that have graced our beautiful skyline. Every year, the special shapes change and we’re introduced to new characters and objects.
This year will include the debut of some special shapes never seen before in East Texas. Claw’d Crab, Neptuno the Seahorse, and Tall Steve the Penguin join Yoda and Darth Vader.
All of the Special Shapes can be viewed at various locations (to be announced) around Longview on the morning of Friday, July 27. They will also take part in a nightly festival balloon glow, weather permitting.
The Great Texas Balloon Race is July 27 through 29, 2018. Gates open at 4 pm. Concerts will follow the balloon glows. Admission at the gate is $15 for Friday, $20 for Saturday, and Sunday is free. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Active military members are free with military ID.
Advance tickets are available.
