Fun Things to do on Father's Day
Our dads were there for us from the very beginning. They put the training wheels on our bikes and found the extra money for our braces. Father’s Day brings an opportunity to show our dads how much they mean to us. Here’s a list of fun things to do with our papas on Father's Day this year.
PUTT PUTT GOLF AND GAMES
Grab your dad and head to Putt Putt Golf and Games to enjoy the two beautifully landscaped 18 hole miniature golf courses. Challenge him to a game while you both visit among the waterfalls, flowers, and peaceful stone-lined streams. Try the batting stations and throw softballs or baseballs at four different speeds.
THOMAS FALLS OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
You’ll be your dad’s favorite after a trip to Thomas Falls. This special place is nestled in the Piney Woods between Longview & Ore City, at one of the highest points in East Texas. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, beautiful sunsets, water fun, and some of the best bass fishing in East Texas. Have a cookout, paddleboat, kayak, and even zip-line. Your dad will love the wagon ride to the platforms and the heavy, padded harnesses that are extra comfortable. Both of you will bond over the shared excitement of sailing through the trees on a series of zip-lines.
G FORCE INDOOR TRAMPOLINE AND KARTING COMPLEX
G-Force is Longview’s newest indoor kart and trampoline park and features 40,000 sq. feet of entertainment. Your dad will feel young again as he climbs in a state-of-the-art go kart and puts the pedal to the metal. You’ll feel good because all of the go karts are electric and provide an environmentally friendly experience without the smells of gasoline, smoke, and rubber. As you exit the 1/8 mile race track, try jumping on the trampolines or relaxing in the Media Lounge.
MARTIN CREEK LAKE STATE PARK
If your dad can’t get enough of the great outdoors, head to Martin Creek Lake for a fun camping trip. Just 22 miles from Longview, the state park offers year-round fishing, paddling, lake swimming, hiking and biking, water-skiing, picnicking, geocaching and nature photography. Choose from campsites with water and electricity or primitive campsites situated on an island. Screened shelters and cabins are also available.
If your dad loves no nonsense soul food with classic main dishes & homestyle sides, look no further. Pork chops, Philly cheese steaks, and double cheeseburgers are all on the menu. Divine Catering’s chicken fried chicken with a side of brown or white gravy will fill dad up and have him singing your praises. Divine Catering has served thousands of soul food plates and are a local favorite, and both the Mobberly location and Hawkins Pkwy. location are both open on Father’s Day!
TEAGUE PARK POND
Some dads need a lot of quiet time for reflection. If your dad falls into this category, take him for an easy afternoon at the pond at Teague Park. This hidden gem is great for fishing, picnicking or mindful meditation. Take a walk past the nearby Veterans Memorial Plaza and the 20 monuments with specific tributes to each of the service branches, MIA/POWs and service animals.
