All aboard the Wonderland Train!
Introducing a new holiday experience for East Texas.
Join us this December for a jolly good ride aboard the Wonderland Train as we travel from the beautiful historic depot in Longview to the Wonderland of Lights in Marshall. Tickets are available now. The Wonderland Train is a partnership effort between Visit Longview Texas and Visit Marshall Texas, and is sponsored by CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System.
Your evening adventure begins at 5:45 pm at the Longview depot, where we’ll have music, refreshments, crafts, and photo opportunities. At 6:15, we’ll hop on board the eastbound Amtrak Texas Eagle for a 40-minute train ride through the piney woods of East Texas.
Our destination is Marshall’s annual holiday celebration known as the Wonderland of Lights. The downtown event features music performances, an outdoor ice skating rink, horse-drawn carriages, trackless train, and a vintage 1948 Herschel carousel, all surrounding the beautifully decorated Harrison County Courthouse. You can also make precious memories in Santa's Village, a collection of tiny homes each featuring a fun, free activity: build a train, decorate a cookie, and visit with the big guy himself. Tickets for ice skating and other paid activities are available at the event or in advance online. Wonderland Train riders will receive one free ticket for the carousel!
At 9:00 pm, we’ll board a charter bus for the return trip to Longview.
Wonderland Train tickets are $20 per person. Purchase by Black Friday, November 29, for only $15 using promo code Wonderland2019. Only a limited number of tickets are available, so reserve your tickets while they last.

Unfortunately, a round trip train ride on Amtrak isn’t possible within the same evening due to the train schedule. The Texas Eagle travels between Longview and Marshall each evening as part of a much larger journey that connects from San Antonio to Chicago. The westbound train travels westbound from Marshall to Longview each morning. If you are looking for a fun round-trip train ride day trip from Longview, we suggest taking the morning westbound train to either Mineola or Dallas, and returning that evening. Check out our story on that adventure.
