[ARCHIVED] Crystal's Favorite Things to Do

So, you have just 48 hours in Longview and need a local’s advice for how to spend your time? Crystal Gable is a vegan, cat loving, working mom who enjoys reading, cooking and practicing yoga whenever she can. Here’s her recommendations of favorite things to do around Longview.

Day 1

Silver Grizzly mug

10 am: Swing by Silver Grizzly Espresso to grab a maple bourbon latte and people watch in this cool, rustic downtown spot.

11:30 am: Walk a block and dine at Lil Thai House. The Panang Curry with Tofu is to die for, but everything on the menu is good.

painting

1 pm: Visit the Longview Museum of Fine Arts and check out the permanent collection and special exhibits. Enjoy the sculpture garden on your walk back to the car.

3 pm: Enjoy a matinee movie at the newly renovated AMC Longview 10 Theater. You’ll love the specialty cocktails, craft beer, and heated recliners.

salad

7 pm: Head to Cafe Barron’s for a delicious, gourmet dinner. Open for more than 40 years, Cafe Barron’s is a Longview staple, and serves everything from truffle fries, to blackberry salad, to pasta in a white wine sauce.

9 pm: Walk your dinner off at The Green, a new outdoor park. It features a half mile walking trail, six different educational and cultural niches; a creek overlook, and a music garden.

Day 2

yoga girls

9 am: Try a Beginner Hatha class at Longview Yoga. Bring your mat, an open mind, and a willingness to discover new possibilities, but check the schedule before you go. It does change from time to time.

10:30 am: Swing by Jack’s Natural Foods for a fresh pressed “You Are My Sunshine” made from orange, apple, and carrot juice.

tacos

11 am: Order the fried avocado appetizer and potato breakfast tacos on the deck at Mi Casita. The blues music will have you contemplating the meaning of life as you watch the cars go by.

3 pm: Shop for antiques at Red Door Consignments near downtown. They have a nice selection of classic furniture and really unique decorative items.

Pizza King

6 pm: Enjoy an early dinner at Pizza King, a 1950s themed diner. The pizzas are piping hot and extremely yummy and have been happily served since 1965.

8 pm: Head to Oil Horse Brewing Company for an ice cold, local, craft beer. The atmosphere in the tap room is fantastic and if the weather’s nice, the owner opens the big, rustic doors to let the breeze flow through.

Check business hours and class times before you go. They are subject to change.
